Family Involvement
We believe that parents play a critical role in the therapeutic process and we want to help you understand what treatment is about and how you are a part of it. At SunHawk Adolescent Recovery Center, we offer two intensive parent workshops: an educational "Treatment Workshop" designed to acquaint parents with the treatment process at SunHawk and the 12-Step model, and an experiential "Transition Workshop" that focuses on planning for your child's next stage in recovery when he/she leaves SunHawk Adolescent Recovery Center.
Both parent workshops are an excellent opportunity for parents to stay involved in their child's recovery and learn about the disease of addiction. Each workshop lasts two very full days, with an opportunity on the third day to tour the facility or, depending on the student's progress in the program, visit with your son or daughter. At the end of each workshop, an open forum with a panel of SunHawk's directors and therapists allows parents to get answers to all of their questions.
